Pitched Dormer Loft Conversion in Dorking
ABM was invited to design and build a loft conversion on the outskirts of Dorking Surrey and extensive internal alterations within the existing home.
Being on the outskirts of Dorking and in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the planning policies attached to the dwelling are much more strict in extending your home.
The first step was to put together architectural concept drawings and meet with the planners. After a few months and various amendments to the proposal, we finally achieved planning permission.
The loft conversion consisted of three hipped dormers to the front elevation and changes to the roof to the rear elevation to enable a light well to transfer natural light throughout the ground floor.
We added two large bedrooms, an ensuite facility, and a family bathroom.
If you are considering extending your home, be it a loft conversion-home extension, you first need to check out the policies attached to your home Mole Valley Council has an easy-to-use interactive map.
You can also speak to the planners (good luck) or write to them detailing your loft conversion/extension and request pre-application advice.
If you live further in town, you will likely benefit from permitted development but check.
